So are your ready to experience the best of Melbourne river cruises?

The Williamstown ferry service offers spectacular views of the Yarra River and Melbourne cityscape on a leisurely cruise to the Williamstown port. The journey which takes about one hour each way is a great way to spend the morning or afternoon in Melbourne!

The river cruise starts at Southbank just across the bridge from Flinders Street Station. This is a lovely area with street performers and lots of coffee shops and people milling around.

The river cruise takes one hour from Southbank to Williamstown and you can stop along the way at the Crown Casino and Melbourne Aquarium, the Exhibition center, South Wharf, Yarra's Edge, Scienceworks museum, and ending up in Williamstown.

We decided to go to the historic town of Williamstown and spent an hour exploring this older part of Melbourne! The kids loved it! Its a really fun and natural space with lots of great vibes! Parks were abundant as well as cafes and it just has a really chill feel to it!

The ferry has indoor and outdoor seating and provides a range of materials inside about the area for visitors. We sat outside and enjoyed the views of the cityscape. My daughter was very excited as we approached the shipping center of Melbourne with all the huge ocean liners and containers being stacked on to the boats.

Once we neared Williamstown we spotted a large war ship docked at the port. You can go inside and explore the ship for a small fee.

After a quick play in the playground we went for a stroll through the historic streets looking at the old buildings and street signs. My daughter had fun on the large anchor at the end of the road. We decided to look at some of the quaint shops that line the main street before heading for a cappuccino for us and an ice-cream for Francesca!

On the way home we were lucky as the sun was just starting to set offering great views of the Melbourne Yarra River and Southbank area! If you are looking for river cruises, Williamstown ferries offer a variety of tours suitable for families. They are have a special family pass at a reduced rate.
