Who wants to go on a Haunted Walk Ottawa tour?
Looking to explore Ottawa a little more? What better way to keep the whole family entertained then with a haunted walk tour! Listen to the spooky ghost stories of some of the most famous landmarks in town.
There are several family friendly haunted walks available including the Original Haunted Walk, Ghosts and the Gallows and Crime and Punishment Jail.
The stories are all well researched from old newspapers, history books and those who have had some of the more recent encounters with a ghostly presence.
We took the Original Haunted Walk Tour with two teenagers, a nine
and 11 year old on a cool summer evening. We heard the stories of the
ghosts of the Chateau Laurier, City Hall and the Lisgar High School
buildings and more. The kids even think they spotted a ghost in one of
the windows! Our guide was an excellent story teller who showed us an
interesting side of Ottawa. He was dressed in a cape and carried a lit
lantern to add to the ambiance.
This
is a walking tour that lasted an hour and a half and is suitable for
older children and teenagers. The stories are not too scary to bring along your
younger children but they may tire easily and there are some stairs to
navigate so not stroller friendly. Tours are in the evening with
various start times.
Check out the Haunted Walk Ottawa website for more info including tours in Kingston and Toronto!
TIP: Don't miss out on the spectacular Mosaika Light and Sound show at nearby Parliament Hill after your Ottawa tour. Parliament Hill becomes the back drop for this wonderful event showcasing the history, nature and people of Canada. The show runs nightly from early July to early September and it is free!
