Beaches, water parks and amusement parks are fun things to do in Albufeira with kids. Albufeira is one of the most popular family destination in Algarve, Portugal.
The weather is hot and sunny from May to October making for great beach vacations. It is still fairly mild weather in the winter though not warm enough for swimming.
If you are traveling to Albufeira with a baby or toddler you will be able to find diapers of all sizes in the larger grocery stores, though they may be more expensive then back home. A lightweight umbrella stroller is ideal for walking the strip or at some of the attractions.
Spending the day at the beach (praia in Portuguese) is a must do in Albufeira! Your babies and toddlers can splash in the crystal blue waters and your children can build sandcastles. Praia de Oura has lots of water activities for children and teenagers. Praia Do Barril is fun for the kids as you can take a little train ride from Pedras del Ray to access this sandy island beach. Don't forget to pack the sunscreen, sun hats and some beach toys!
Slide & Splash is one of the fun activities for kids. It is a water park located about 30 mins drive from Albufeira. There is a water playground for the toddlers and lots of water slides for children and teenagers.
Zoo Marine is one of the best things to do in Albufeira with kids. This theme park is located a few kilometers outside of Albufeira. Your babies and toddlers will love the dolphin, sea lion and tropical birds shows. Your children will enjoy splashing around in the swimming pool and the water slides! Don't miss the 4D movie! You can even swim with dolphins here (ages 6 and up) for a fee
Check out the Sand Sculptures exhibitions! This annual festival is held from April to October of each year in Pera, Algarve. Check out the international experts who created amazing sand sculptures. There is even an area for families to join in the fun and build their own masterpiece.
Parque Aventura is a tree top adventure park for ages 4 and up. Your children will have a great time zip lining, crossing rope bridges and other obstacles! There are several different difficulty levels. Teenagers and adults will love the challenging courses. There is also a paintball facility here.
Aqualand is the biggest water park in Algarve with some of the highest water slides. Your children and teens will love the crazy corkscrew water slides and the rapids white water rafting ride. Toddlers will love the mini park just for them!
Evening Entertainment in Albufeira is lively and fun. You are welcome to bring your children into the pubs and bars with you. There are several that are particularly family friendly. Absolbar located on the main strip has a children's playhouse, toys, Internet access and computer games. There is also a cctv camera to keep an eye on the little ones. Erin's Isle is a fun Irish pub with a supervised children's room with DVD's, face painting and snacks! Festa Da Praia is a lovely restaurant with a playground for small children and toddlers so you can enjoy a meal as they play.
Head to Karting Almancil for some fun family activities. Your toddlers will love the baby go karting track, trampolines, and mini boats (ages 3 and up). Children will have a blast with the remote control model car race track, go karts and the rodeo bucking bull ride (ages 7 and up). Teenagers will love the adrenaline pumping 390 cc go karts! It is about 20 km from Albufeira.
Aquashow Water & Theme Park is located in nearby Quarteira. Your teenagers will love the daredevil water slides and wave pool. Children will enjoy the lazy river and the biggest water coaster in Europe!! Toddlers and babies will enjoy the parrots and reptile shows and the children's water playground.
Watersports are available at the beautiful Oura beach in Albufeira. Your children and teenagers will love the banana boat rides, pedal boats, jet boat rides and rings (towed on a inflatable ring by a speed boat). Jet-skis and para-sailing are also available.
