Taste of Panama Tour


This is an original and unique way to get to know Panama City, the tour is offered by Urban Adventures and is suitable for anyone interested in the local culture, whether you are an avid foodie or not. This is a walking tour which takes you through the streets of Panama introducing you to the best restaurants, cafes and letting you in on secrets only the locals know.

Your experienced guide will explain (in English) about the history of the city and the Panama lifestyle. The tour includes tastings at several special restaurants and cafes. With this tour you will get to sample a wide range of the local flavors and get a sense for the Panama City food culture.


The tour starts with a cup of the finest coffee in the city and your guide will tell you about the importance of coffee in the Panama culture. You'll hear about the Panama coffee industry and try the delicious Geisha coffee, one of the greatest and most opulent caffeine fixes in the world.

The tour proceeds through Casco Viejo, a UNESCO neighborhood, the Panama City's Old City where there are beautiful churches, the National Theatre of Panama, Iglesia de la Merced and historic palaces. The next treat you get to sample is organic chocolate. This chocolate is cultivated in Bocas del Toro by the indigenous Ngobe people.

Your guide will lead you in and out of the narrow lanes and hidden gems of the city along cobbled streets and passed historic buildings until you reach a unique microbrewery. Here you get to sample their beer on tap and see how the beer is produced. Seafood is an important part of Panama cuisine and the next stop along the tour route is along the Malecon sea wall and to the Seafood Market.

This colorful site is often overlooked by tourists and you will have the unique opportunity to see the fish mongers at work and even taste the nation dish - ceviche. Ceviche is made with raw fish which is cured in citrus juice (usually lime or lemon) and often spiced up with the addition of chili and onion. Before the tour comes to an end you can relax and watch the sun go down from a rooftop bar with a local cocktail created with the country's finest and most historic rum.
