Hong Kong housing for families include lots of different types of including apartments and villas. Usually if you live in Kowloon or Hong Kong Island you would be staying in an apartment. These vary in size depending on your budget but in general expect smaller that back home!

Villas are available on the islands and in the New Territories. Some villas are split into smaller units and rented out floor by floor.

When renting leases are generally one year. You will need to pay one month’s refundable deposit and sign a lease. Agents charge a signing fee. Setting up of water, gas and electricity is easy to do.

Schooling is an important part of your planning when moving to Hong Kong with kids. Your children will find many other expat children attending the international schools and can make new friends from around the world. There are many Hong Kong international schools for kids ages 3-18.

Hiring A Maid In Hong Kong

One of the luxuries of moving to Hong Kong with kids is the affordability of household help. Maids are available from several countries but predominately the Philippines . Maids may live in or live out but you need to check the current laws as these are constantly changing. Hiring a maid is a simple procedure, there are many agencies to help or you may get a recommendation from a friend or neighbour. If your maid is overseas the agency will arrange the visa for you, but you may need to go to file it yourself. If your maid is in the country it is easy to transfer her visa.



Family Friendly Hong Kong Activities

Hong Kong Food For Kids

Don't worry about the food when moving to Hong Kong with kids. Hong Kong has some of the best food in the world in every cuisine. From buffets to Japanese to Italian you will find a great array of high quality food available for every taste.

You will be able to find the usual fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, KFC and many other chain restaurants. There are grocery stores selling a variety of imported foods as well.

You will want to try some of the tasty local cuisine as well. Dim Sum is a popular meal here and is great for kids.
