Kuala Lumpar Family Trip

(Hong Kong)

We arrived in the evening for a short trip to Kuala Lumpur. We stayed at the Citrus Hotel. It allows a maximum of 3 per room so one of my kids stayed in the room with my friend. The location wasn't the greatest but it had a pool and included a buffet breakfast. There was always taxis readily available to bring us around.

We started by heading to the Batu Caves. We stopped at some hot springs along the way. The Batu Caves were lots of fun. The monkeys were a hit again with the kids. We bought the beautiful fresh flower necklaces and climbed the 272 steps. At the top the kids had their photos taken with snakes around their necks. Back at the bottom we paid the fee to enter the adjacent area and fed the koi fish, watched the cultural shows, played with the monkeys in the cages and entered the other caves.

The next day we headed to the Petronas Twin Towers. We got our free tickets for later that afternoon. we stopped at the KLCC park and the kids had fun playing on the huge playgrounds. We headed to the aquarium. It's a nice spot with lots of interactive exhibits and a moving walkway that brings your into a glass tunnel through a huge aquarium. Lots of colorful fish here! After this we went to the newly opened fish spa beside it. We laughed a lot at who could keep their feet in the water the longest as the fish nibble the dead skin.

It feels very weird!!! Not exactly good..lol. It was so much fun that we went back to get my friend who had stayed behind as she wasn't feeling well. We brought her back to be tortured- I mean enjoy-the fish nibbling. We then all went up the Petronas Twin Towers to the sky deck for the magnificent view of Kuala Lumpur. We headed to Petaling Street for lots of fun bargaining and shopping.

The next day we headed to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. After that we headed to the botanical gardens and enjoyed a stroll through the orchid gardens. We caught a taxi and were driving past a mosque that was quite crowded and I asked the driver why it was so busy on a Thursday. He said no it is Friday today. I said no it is Thursday and he said no it is Friday and then it hit me...I had screwed up majorly and in planning had booked the hotel an extra night and we had missed our night flight to Dubai to meet my sister.

Then I realized we should have landed in Dubai already and my sister must be panicking! We headed to Sungei Wang where the kind travel agents helped us contact Emirates to rebook the flight to Dubai. ($150 rebooking fee X4=$600 mistake). In the meantime I called my sister to let her know we were alive and well and that we hadn't been kidnapped and fed to the monkeys. Sorry sis we were strolling leisurely through the orchid gardens as you were panicking and getting ready to call in the armies to find your missing sister and nieces and nephew! After we had that all sorted out we enjoyed our final day shopping in the mall.
