Our Cruise ship stopping in the Bahamas
Caribbean Cruise Stop
Cayo Cay, Nassau
We had two stops in the Bahamas on our Royal Caribbean cruise.
The first stop was at Coco Cay- the private island of the cruise line. This place is gorgeous! We got up early and were on one of the first mini boat shuttles to the island. We headed straight to the beach- the kids played in the sand and cooled off in the waters. We spent the morning at the water playground where the kids climbed all over the bouncy structures floating in the water.
We had a tasty BBQ lunch and then did some shopping at the market stalls. After this we relaxed on the hammocks for a while and enjoyed the view. We headed to the snorkeling area and had a great time searching for fish and floating on the mats in the ocean.
Nassau was our next stop in the Bahamas. We started with a horse and carriage ride through the town. This was lots of fun as the driver pointed out the sites. The children had fun picking out which colorful house they planned to buy me when they grow up. (I will be sure to remind them when they are grown!).
After the ride we did some souvenir shopping in town. We checked out lots of shops and also the straw market. The kids bought a few trinkets for their classmates. We took a taxi and headed out to the fish fry. We had a tasty lunch of conch fritters and after we visited the fruit market and found some ripe neseberry fruits. We feasted on these and got a few more to bring back on the ship.
After lunch we headed to the Ardastra Gardens and Zoo. The zoo was small but the kids enjoyed it. They got a kick out of seeing the marching flamingos and the monkeys were a hit as usual. After this we headed to the Pirate museum which the kids loved! They especially loved the friendly pirate that greets you at the entrance. It was nice to escape the heat and enjoy the ac for a bit. We then headed back to the ship.
I would love to visit Bahamas with the kids for a week or so and check out Atlantis!
Hi Mary,
Thanks you for sharing your trip to the Bahamas with your kids! It sounds wonderful! I would love to visit again too! The beaches are out of this world aren't' they?
Best wishes,
